Hunting down indie curators one email at a time eats hours, and you never know which playlists are real and which are botted or quietly charging for a spot. So here's a shortcut. Below are 10 real indie Spotify playlists that accept submissions, each with a published way to reach its curator, picked from data we check every day. If you're planning your indie Spotify playlist submission for your next release, start here.

Updated October 2026. On 11 August 2026, TechCrunch reported that Spotify would start showing "AI Persona" badges on some artists' profiles from mid-September, and that "by default, Spotify won't include AI Personas in its editorial or algorithmic recommendations" [1]. It's a sign Spotify is being more careful about what it recommends. Playlists run by real people who listen to real indie music are a route you can work on yourself.

This is MusicMinutes' own data [3]. Every playlist below passed our bot and quality checks; the full criteria are under the table. It's a sample, not our top-rated indie playlists: those, with contacts for every one, stay in Playlist Search. The list covers indie rock, indie folk, dream pop, slowcore and post-punk, so check the Style column before you pitch.

The list: 10 indie playlists for Spotify playlist submission

Sorted by followers. Follower counts are as of 11 October 2026 and change daily. Each name links to the playlist on Spotify, so you can listen before you pitch.

# Playlist Followers Style
1 i'm cyborg but that's ok 65,334 alternative rock, post-punk, shoegaze
2 alternative/indie rock jams 64,825 indie, garage rock, blues rock
3 a walk in the forest 40,187 baroque pop, indie pop, indie folk
4 3 am, windows down 26,486 dream pop, indie, indie pop
5 find your moment✨ 14,705 indie, art pop, latin indie
6 Indie Summer Roadtrip 🌞 8,184 surf rock, indie, indie rock
7 Lost in the Woods 5,707 indie folk, ambient folk, jazz pop
8 Indie Pop | Melodic Indie & Indie Folk 2,742 slowcore, dream pop, post-rock
9 Indie Folk 2026 | Best New Tracks | BigIndieGiant | Unsigned Indie 1,368 power pop, indie folk, alt country
10 Sentimental Indie Club 1,165 slowcore, dream pop, art pop

A few of these sit right on the edge of indie. "find your moment" is tagged latin indie as well as indie and art pop, and "Indie Folk 2026" leans power pop and alt country. Pitch those only if your song actually fits.

How we picked these

We pulled this list from MusicMinutes Playlist Search on 11 October 2026 [3]. To make it in, a playlist had to:

  • Have an indie style in its top two genre tags (indie, indie rock, indie pop, bedroom pop, indie folk, alternative rock or dream pop).
  • Pass our quality checks, without being one of our very top-rated indie playlists (those stay in Playlist Search).
  • Have at least 1,000 followers.
  • Have a published curator contact (an email, an Instagram or a submission link).
  • Not be on our excluded list of botted, payola or removed playlists, and not have an explicit name.

From those, we picked 10 that clearly fit indie by name or tags and didn't name a curator.

Our quality checks run daily on the playlist's follower history, how active it is and how many small artists it features. Botted and payola playlists are hidden automatically. Passing them is a guide, not a promise: curators decide what they add.

How to pitch indie playlists so curators actually listen

A good list only gets you to the inbox. What you send decides the rest. This is what works for me as an independent artist.

  • Listen first. Play the playlist for ten minutes before you write. If your song would sound out of place between the tracks you hear, skip it and save the curator's time (and your reputation).
  • Match the sound, not just the word "indie". A hushed indie folk track and a fuzzy garage rock single are both indie, but they won't sit on the same playlist. The Style column is your first filter.
  • Write one personal message. Use the playlist's name, mention a song on it you like, and say in a line or two why yours fits. Add your Spotify track link. Keep it short enough to read on a phone.
  • No attachments. Send a Spotify link, not an MP3 or a WAV. Curators add songs from Spotify, and a big file from a stranger is easy to ignore.
  • Follow up once. If you hear nothing after a week or two, one polite nudge is fine. After that, move on and try them again with your next release.
  • Never pay for a placement. A curator who asks for money to add your song is selling something Spotify tells artists to avoid (more on that below).

If you want the full version, with an example message, read how to pitch your song to Spotify playlist curators.

What to avoid when you pitch indie playlists

The two traps are the same in every genre: paying for placements and getting onto botted playlists. Spotify is blunt about the first one. It "strictly prohibits using any third party service that promises streams or playlist placement in exchange for money", and says any service that guarantees "streams, Spotify followers, or playlist placement in exchange for money" is "not legitimate and should be avoided" [2].

The risk is real. Spotify lists possible consequences that include "Removal of the song from Spotify playlists" and "Removal of the track from Spotify altogether", and artificial streams "do not earn royalties" [2]. That's a lot to risk for a few thousand plays that were never real listeners.

So be wary of anyone who offers a spot for a fee, and of playlists where the follower count looks out of step with how little else seems to be going on. Every playlist above passed our bot checks, but if a curator on this list later asks you for money, walk away.

Where to find the curator contacts

We don't print contacts here, because curators share them to get pitches from artists, not to be scraped off a blog. They're in MusicMinutes Playlist Search, along with around 24,000 bot checked Spotify playlists you can search by keyword, genre, mood or similar artist. Every playlist comes with verified curator contacts (an email, an Instagram or a submission link). There's no fee per pitch, and you keep the contacts you reveal even if you cancel. It's on the paid plans (Artist is from £72 a year), which also include 3 human checked submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists.

Contacts for these and more than 900 indie playlists, including our highest-rated ones, are in Playlist Search.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these indie playlists free to submit to?

Messaging a curator directly costs nothing. The contacts for these playlists are in Playlist Search on the paid plans, with no fee per pitch. Each curator sets their own rules, though. If one asks you to pay for a placement, don't, because Spotify says those services should be avoided [2].

Will a curator definitely add my song?

No. Curators decide what goes on their playlists, and some won't reply to every pitch. Picking playlists that match your sound and sending a short, personal message gives you the best chance.

Should I pitch before or after my release day?

After, once the song is live on Spotify. You're sending the curator a Spotify link, and they add songs from Spotify, so there's nothing for them to add until it's out.

Are these the best indie playlists on Spotify?

No, and that's deliberate. They're a sample that passed our bot and quality checks, not our top-rated list. Playlist Search rates every playlist daily from follower history, activity and how many small artists it features [3], and that's where you'll find the highest-rated indie playlists and their contacts.

Where can I find indie playlist curator emails?

We don't print contacts on public pages. Every playlist in the table above has a published contact, though, and the verified email, Instagram or submission link for each one is in MusicMinutes Playlist Search.
