If you're looking for a Viryl (viryl.studio) alternative, you've probably got a release ready, no videos for it yet, and no wish to lose studio time making them. Viryl and MusicMinutes both turn your song into short videos for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, cut to the beat with your lyrics on screen [1]. "Your release is ready. The content for it isn't." is the line in Viryl's new Meta ads. The first started on 12 October 2026, and about 20 more went live on 14 October 2026 [2].

We checked Viryl's homepage, pricing and FAQ on 14 October 2026 [1]. Prices change, so check both sites before you pay. Viryl shows UK visitors its prices in US dollars (we saw no pound option), so your bank converts the amount and VAT may be added at checkout. And yes, this is our blog, so we've stuck to facts you can check and said where the two aren't directly comparable.

The fair comparison: £15 vs $42

Viryl's lowest plan that lists uploading your own footage is Pro: $50 monthly, or $500 a year, which is $42 a month [1]. The closest MusicMinutes plan is Artist Pro, with 5 hours of your own footage a month: £20 monthly, or £180 a year, which is £15 a month. Both sell yearly, so we compare yearly with yearly.

Left out on purpose, because we don't offer them:

  • A big licensed stock library. Viryl lists 1,000,000+ clips licensed for ads, plus exclusive footage packs updated monthly [1].
  • Genre ad templates. Viryl lets you start "from a finished ad in your genre" [1].
  • Credits that roll over, and label plans with pooled credits [1]. We don't sell credits.

Two rows also aren't like for like. Video counts: Viryl sells credits, and its "~70", "~200" and "~500 videos a month" are its own estimates [1]. We count videos. Transcription: Viryl transcribes the 30-second section you pick [1]. Clips transcribes your whole song once, so you can switch to any section later.

Viryl pricing vs MusicMinutes pricing

These are the plans a solo artist would look at. Viryl's free plan has no exports [1].

Plan Price Videos a month Also included
MusicMinutes Artist £10 a month, or £72 a year (£6 a month) 10, from 3 whole songs (1 full-length) 1 hour of footage, Canvas, 150 Magic Hooks, playlist tools, 10 Clarity analyses
MusicMinutes Artist Pro £20 a month, or £180 a year (£15 a month) 100, from 15 whole songs (4 full-length) Everything in Artist, with 5 hours of footage, every style, lyrics behind you, 300 hooks and 30 Clarity analyses
Viryl Starter $20 a month, or $200 a year ($17 a month) About 70 (80 credits) Export and a full commercial licence. Own footage not listed [1]
Viryl Pro $50 a month, or $500 a year ($42 a month) About 200 (240 credits) Upload your own footage, unused credits roll over, priority support [1]
Viryl Premium $100 a month, or $1,000 a year ($83 a month) About 500 (600 credits) 600 credits, Viryl's biggest listed plan; labels and teams get custom plans [1]

On volume, Viryl gives you more videos on every plan. Per video on the yearly plans, Artist Pro is £180 for 1,200 videos, about 15p each. Viryl puts its own Pro figure at about 21 cents, Starter at about 24 cents and Premium at about 17 cents [1]. Our Artist plan works out at 60p a video. So Artist Pro and Viryl's plans are in the same range per video, and if you need 500 a month, Viryl Premium is lower per video.

Most solo artists don't need that many. Posting once a day on 2 or 3 accounts is around 60 to 90 videos a month. Artist Pro's 100 covers that for £180 a year, against $500 a year for Viryl Pro, and it includes far more tools. At the bottom end, fair is fair: Viryl Starter gives about 70 videos for $200 a year, but doesn't list your own footage [1]. Our Artist plan is 10 videos for £72 a year, with your own footage included.

Ad data vs organic data: why "what won as an ad" isn't the whole story

Viryl is built by the team behind Intellijend, a platform for running Meta ads for music [3]. Viryl says 6,000+ artists have put $10m+ behind their music through Intellijend, across 100,000+ videos. "Viryl is built from what won" [1]. That's real data, but it's ad data, not organic data.

On Meta, an ad wins its auction on the bid, "estimated action rates" (Meta's estimate of the chance a person takes the action the advertiser wants) and ad quality [4]. For a music campaign, that action is usually a click or a stream. It's bought with budget, often from a targeted audience who doesn't know you yet.

An organic post has no bid behind it. Instagram says its most important Reels predictions are how likely you are to reshare, watch all the way through, like and go to the audio page [5]. TikTok's own explanation of its For You feed points to likes, shares, comments and finishing the video [6]. A video that gets a cold audience to tap "Listen now" isn't necessarily the one your followers rewatch and send to a friend.

Some lessons carry over. Viryl says your hook should be on screen from the first frame [1], and that's right for posts too. Viryl also says its videos are made to run as ads and to post as TikToks, Reels and Shorts [1]. Just treat ad lessons as a starting point and test them organically.

Viryl says "every other tool guesses" [1]. We don't: Clarity and Magic Hooks are built on 10k organic musician videos analysed by our founder, then personalised to you and your song. Inspo keeps organic posts and paid music ads apart: organic videos show real views, likes and comments, and paid ads show how long they've run.

Why MusicMinutes is technically better for your videos

Your whole song, and full-length videos too

Viryl asks you to "pick the 30 seconds you want to push" [1]. That suits an ad. Viryl's pages don't list full-length videos [1]. Clips analyses and transcribes the whole song from one upload, so you can switch moments without uploading again, and Artist Pro includes 4 full-length videos (over a minute) a month, and Artist includes 1.

Your own footage on both paid plans

Viryl lists uploading your own footage as a Pro addition [1]. On MusicMinutes, it's on both paid plans, so even the £72 Artist plan uses your clips.

Synced to whole bars, so every video loops

Viryl says it hears every beat and cuts the footage to it [1]. Clips does too, and it snaps the moment you pick to whole bars, so each video loops cleanly back to the start. A clean loop is easy to watch twice, and watching through is something Instagram and TikTok both say they weigh [5][6].

Hooks from posts that got comments

Viryl adds an opening hook and lets you change it [1], but its pages don't say where the hooks come from. Magic Hooks writes 30 at a time. It learns from hooks on real musician posts from the last six months, ranked by comments and matched to your song's genre and mood. We blind-tested six AI models on real songs and kept the one that ranked best.

Lyrics behind you, and Spotify Canvas

On Artist Pro, your lyrics can pass behind you in the shot, a typography trend that's hard to do in most tools. Clips also makes Spotify Canvas loops (3 to 8 seconds) from your cover art, with text such as tour dates. Spotify says a high-quality Canvas has increased streams by up to 120% and saves by up to 114% [7], though those are best-case figures. Neither feature is listed on Viryl's pages [1].

You get far more than a video editor

Every paid MusicMinutes plan includes:

  • Playlist Search: around 24,000 bot-checked Spotify playlists with curator contacts you keep.
  • Submit: 3 Premium submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists, each checked by a human.
  • Clarity: honest feedback on a TikTok or Reel with clear fixes in about 30 seconds.
  • Inspo: organic posts and paid music ads, kept apart.
  • 1-2-1 advice: message Paul, our founder and an independent artist with over 1M Spotify streams, for help with Meta ads, playlist pitching and your release.

Viryl's pages don't list any of these. See every MusicMinutes limit on our pricing page.

Where Viryl might suit you

  • You mainly run paid ads. Its footage is cleared for ads, and it's built by the team behind Intellijend [1].
  • You want genre templates and exclusive footage packs to start from [1].
  • You need 200 to 500 videos a month. Its Pro and Premium plans are sized for that [1].

The verdict: the better-value Viryl alternative

If you post daily with your own footage, Artist Pro costs £180 a year against $500 for Viryl Pro, and 100 videos a month covers a daily plan. Playlist tools, video feedback and 1-2-1 advice come included, which Viryl doesn't list at any price.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does viryl.studio cost?

In October 2026, paid plans ran from Starter at $20 a month ($17 billed yearly, about 70 videos) to Premium at $100 a month ($83 billed yearly, about 500 videos) [1]. MusicMinutes Artist Pro is £15 a month yearly for 100 videos.

Can I use my own footage on Viryl Starter?

Viryl lists "upload your own footage" as something Pro adds, so it isn't listed on Starter [1]. Both paid MusicMinutes plans include your own footage.

Is Viryl made by Intellijend?

Viryl says it's "built by the team behind intellijend" [1]. Intellijend is a separate platform for running Meta ads for your music, from $24.99 a month billed yearly, and you also pay Meta for the ads themselves [3].

Do I need to run ads to use MusicMinutes Clips?

No. Clips makes videos to post on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with no ad budget needed. If you do run Meta ads, Paul can help through the 1-2-1 advice.

Does MusicMinutes use AI footage?

No. We never generate footage with AI. Clips uses your own clips, free stock, collections, or none at all for visualiser-only videos.
