Updated October 2026. Choosing the best lyric video maker before a release is confusing, because some tools time your lyrics for you, some make you set every line by hand, and some generate the footage with AI. That last part matters more than it used to. A Copenhagen Business School study published in August 2026 found that people engage less with posts labelled as AI-generated, even when the content is identical, and the drop was strongest for emotional content [1]. Songs are about as emotional as content gets.

Short answer: LYRC for quick lyric clips, Specterr for a full-length video you time yourself, and for no AI footage at all, Specterr, VEED, CapCut, LYRC (without its AI b-roll) or our own MusicMinutes Clips.

The 8 lyric video makers at a glance

Prices are as we saw them on each tool's own pricing page in October 2026, in the currency it showed us. They change, so check before you pay. The US tools here show UK visitors their prices in US dollars and charge in dollars, so your bank converts the amount (often with a small fee), and VAT may be added at checkout.

How we picked

We read each tool's own pricing and product pages on 10 and 11 October 2026 and judged every one on the same things:

  • Lyric timing. Does it transcribe and time your lyrics for you, or do you set each line by hand?
  • Styles. How many lyric looks you get, and how much you can change them.
  • Footage. Your own clips, stock, a visualiser or AI-generated video. When we say "no AI", we mean no AI-generated footage. Some tools on the no-AI side still use AI for other jobs.
  • Length limits. Short clips only, or full songs too.
  • Price, in the currency the tool showed us. We haven't converted anything, so don't compare a dollar price with a pound price.
  • A free plan, so you can try it before paying.

This is our blog, so we've put our own tool in and judged it against the same criteria. The list isn't a ranking. It runs from dedicated lyric tools, through general editors, to AI video generators.

The 8 best lyric video makers in 2026

1. LYRC

LYRC is the closest thing to a pure lyric video app on this list. It "transcribes your lyrics, finds the cuts, and turns your clips into an editable lyric video", with 27 lyric presets [2]. It proposes beat cut markers you can nudge [3]. Footage can be your clips, its stock library, a visualiser, or optional AI b-roll made from a selfie [2][3]. Skip that and it's a no-AI option. The main limit is length: each video is a 15 to 30 second part of your song [2]. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, with 30 exports a month [4].

2. Specterr

Specterr is a web-based music visualiser and lyric video maker. You pick a preset, upload an MP3 or WAV, then type or paste your lyrics and set the timestamps yourself on a beginner-friendly timeline [6]. That's slower than automatic timing, but you decide exactly when each line lands. It's strong on long videos: Pro allows 10-minute videos at 1080p and 60fps, and Unlimited goes up to 120 minutes [5]. Pro is £13 a month billed yearly (£156) for 60 videos a year. The free plan adds a watermark, exports at 720p, and videos expire after 10 days [5].

3. MusicMinutes Clips

Clips, our tool, makes a batch of short videos from one song. It transcribes the whole song, so any moment gets timed lyrics, and one run builds up to 30 drafts cut on the beat to loop. Artist Pro has all 11 lyric styles and can put the lyrics behind you. We never generate footage with AI. (Magic Hooks does use AI to suggest hook lines.)

The limits: no free plan, fewer presets than LYRC, and only 1 full-length video a month on Artist (4 on Artist Pro). Artist is £10 a month or £72 a year for 10 videos a month; Artist Pro is £20 a month or £180 a year for 100. See how Clips works.

4. VEED

VEED is a big, capable browser editor, and its lyric video guide is the classic editor workflow. You upload your music and video, add the lyrics with its auto-subtitle generator or paste them in, then cut and split on the timeline [8]. You can animate the lyrics and add music visualisers too [8]. It's good for one carefully built video, and export length is unlimited on paid plans [7]. The trade-off is time, because you build each video yourself. The free plan exports up to 10 minutes at 720p. Creator is £20 a month or £116 a year, per user [7]. Its AI generation tools (with credits) are optional.

5. CapCut

CapCut is an editor plenty of artists already use, and its free plan includes basic editing tools [9]. Its auto captions transcribe speech into text in 20+ languages, with caption styles you can change by font, colour, size and animation [10]. Its page talks about spoken words, so check every sung line. On desktop, its AI-powered Auto Cut has a Beat Sync mode that cuts your footage to a track, though it may only appear in some regions [11]. It's best for full manual control of one video. Pro showed £21.99 a month, which CapCut calls "for reference only" until you sign in [9].

6. Kaiber

Kaiber sells AI video tools, but its Beat Sync tool is genuinely close to a lyric video maker. Add clips or images and a track, and it batch-creates videos synced to the music, no prompts needed [12]. Toggle Lyrics on and it adds auto-generated lyrics timed to your audio [13]. Two of its video types, Instant Cut and Shuffle Cut, use your own media. Motion Cut and Scene Cut generate new AI clips [14]. Beat Sync isn't on the Starter plan, and batches are up to 2 videos on Creator or 10 on Pro [12][14]. Creator is $29 a month, or $23 a month billed yearly [12].

7. Neural Frames

Neural Frames is an AI music video generator. Its Autopilot makes "full music videos from your song", and every plan includes a Short-Form Studio and horizontal to vertical conversion [15]. It's the one to try if you want surreal, animated visuals you could never film. Lyrics work differently here. Its lyric video template writes the words into the generated images, and its own page says this "does not offer the font-by-font precision of a separate caption layer" and that generated text can need correcting [16]. Knight is $39 a month, or $26 a month billed yearly, though the pricing page marks Knight "Not recommended for Autopilot" [15].

8. Freebeat

Freebeat is another AI music video generator, with a Lyric Video mode next to music, dance and realtime videos [18]. You upload a song, it generates the visuals, and it advertises beat sync and lip sync [18]. That suits you if you want AI performance visuals and have no footage to work with. The limits: the Basic and Pro plan cards list video resolution up to 720p, and you pay in credits, so how many videos you get depends on the AI model you choose [17]. Basic is $6.99 a week and Pro is $34.99 a month. It was also running a limited-time discount when we checked [17].

What to avoid

  • Posting auto-transcribed lyrics without reading them. Automatic timing saves hours, but any tool can mishear a word, and lyrics written into AI images can need fixing too [16]. Read every line against your lyric sheet before you export.
  • A 30-second cap when you need the whole song. LYRC works in 15 to 30 second parts [2], and Clips gives you only a few full-length videos a month. For a full-length lyric video, Specterr or VEED is the better fit.
  • Lyrics or footage you don't have the rights to. Stick to your own songs, your own clips and stock you're allowed to use.
  • Picking on the headline price alone. These tools charge by the week, the month, the year, per user or in credits. Work out roughly what one finished video costs you, then check the price again on the day you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best lyric video maker without AI?

If "no AI" means no AI-generated footage, Specterr, VEED, CapCut, LYRC (leave out its AI b-roll) and MusicMinutes Clips all fit. Specterr is the pick for a full-length video you time yourself. Clips is the pick for a batch of short videos from your own footage. Some of these still use AI for other jobs, like CapCut's Auto Cut [11].

Is there a free lyric video maker?

Yes, with limits. Specterr's free plan gives you 1 video a day at 720p with a watermark, and videos expire after 10 days [5]. VEED has a free plan with exports up to 10 minutes at 720p [7], and CapCut Free includes basic editing tools [9]. Freebeat offers 500 free credits to start [18]. Clips is only on paid plans.

How do I make a lyric video for TikTok?

Pick the part of the song people will want to replay and export it in 9:16. LYRC keeps clips to 15 to 30 seconds, the length it says works on Reels, TikTok and Shorts [2]. Use big, readable lyrics, check every word, and make sure the cut lands on a beat so the loop feels smooth. Kaiber's Beat Sync exports 9:16 [14], and so does Clips. If you'd rather post several short clips than one long video, here's how to make 30 videos for one song in one sitting.

Can I make a brat-style lyric video?

Yes. Clips has a Brat lyric style built in, alongside styles like Plain and Pop. In a general editor you can build the look by hand: CapCut's caption styles let you set the font, colour, size and animation [10], and VEED lets you add and animate text yourself [8].
