If you're looking for a Canva alternative, it's probably because Canva is great for your cover art but slow when you need 20 beat-synced videos for one release. Maybe you're also tired of AI being pushed at you when you want the release to feel human. Canva is a design tool with a video editor inside. MusicMinutes Clips is a music video tool built for one job.
We checked Canva's pricing page in October 2026 [1]. It showed UK prices in pounds, so both sides here are in £ and you can compare them directly. Prices change, so check both sites before you pay. This is our blog, so we've stuck to facts you can check and said where the two aren't comparable.
Short version: keep Canva for your cover and graphics, and use Clips for the batch of release videos. Plenty of artists will use both.
The fair comparison: Canva Pro against both our plans
Canva Pro is £100 a year for one person [1]. It sits between our two plans:
- MusicMinutes Artist: £72 a year (£6 a month), or £10 monthly. That's £28 a year less than Canva Pro.
- MusicMinutes Artist Pro: £180 a year (£15 a month), or £20 monthly. That's £80 a year more than Canva Pro, and the same as Canva Business, which is £180 a year per person [1].
Canva also sells monthly plans, and says yearly saves from 16% [1]. We compare yearly with yearly.
What isn't like for like:
- Canva Pro buys a whole design suite, with 3.6M+ templates and 5 Brand Kits [1]. Ours buys a music video tool plus playlist and feedback tools.
- We count videos. Clips counts the videos you keep and download: 10 a month on Artist, 100 on Artist Pro. A design suite isn't measured that way, so there's no matching Canva row.
- Storage favours Canva: 100GB on Pro [1] against our 2 GB or 10 GB, though finished videos don't count towards ours.
Left out on purpose: print, documents, presentations, whiteboards, team tools, and Canva Pro's Brand Kits and AI ad creation [1]. We don't do those, so if you need them, that's what Canva is for.

Canva pricing vs MusicMinutes pricing
The UK prices Canva showed us in October 2026 [1], set against ours.
| Plan | Price | Yearly price ÷ 12 | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canva Free | £0 | £0 | Editor, 1.6M+ templates, 5GB storage [1], manual beat markers [2] |
| MusicMinutes Artist | £72 a year, or £10 monthly | £6 | 10 Clips videos a month, 3 song uploads, core styles, 150 Magic Hooks, Spotify Canvas, playlist contacts, 3 submissions, 10 Clarity analyses |
| Canva Pro | £100 a year for one person | About £8.33 | 3.6M+ templates, premium stock, 5 Brand Kits, scheduling, 100GB storage, AI tools [1], auto Beat Sync [2] |
| MusicMinutes Artist Pro | £180 a year, or £20 monthly | £15 | Artist, plus 100 videos a month, 15 song uploads, every style and effect, lyrics behind the person, 300 Magic Hooks, 20 Clarity analyses |
| Canva Business | £180 a year per person | £15 per person | Priced per person [1] |
Paying yearly takes 40% off Artist and 25% off Artist Pro. For one subscription that covers every graphic you make, Canva Pro is excellent value. For a month of release videos, plus help getting the song heard, our plans put the money there.
Why MusicMinutes is a better Canva alternative for music videos
A batch of videos, not one timeline
Canva's own steps for a music video go like this: start a video project, add your videos, add music, arrange clips and audio in the timeline, then use Beat Sync [2]. That's a proper editor, and great for one video you shape by hand.
Clips works the other way round. You pick the moment of your song and the footage, and one run builds up to 30 different drafts at once, on both plans. Keep, shuffle or edit them. The videos you keep and download count towards your plan: 10 a month on Artist, 100 on Artist Pro.
On Artist Pro you get every look: 11 lyric styles, 20 visualisers, 12 filters, 10 transitions, 12 effects and camera motion like zoom pulses, shakes and slow pans. Pick them once and they're applied across the whole batch, with no timeline editing.
Snapped to whole bars, so every video loops
Canva can sync to the beat. Its Beat Sync matches your footage to your soundtrack, automatically on Pro or with beat markers you follow by hand on the free plan [2].
Clips goes one step further for short-form. It snaps the moment you pick to whole bars of the song, so each video starts and ends just before a beat lands, and the end flows straight back into the start. Cuts land on the beat at the speed you choose: Auto, Slow, Medium or Fast.
Your whole song, with the lyrics already timed
Upload a song once and the whole track is analysed and transcribed. Your lyrics go on in timed styles without you typing a word. Want a different part of the song next week, or several parts this month? Pick a new moment. Same upload, nothing to redo.
Lyrics behind you
On Artist Pro, your lyrics can pass behind the person in your video. It's a current typography trend, and hard to do in most tools, where you'd cut yourself out frame by frame. Clips does it for you, with smooth or sketch edges and an optional outline, on up to 30 minutes of footage a month.
Hooks from what's getting comments
Magic Hooks writes 30 hook lines at a time, so every video in a batch can try a different angle. It starts from hooks on real musician videos from the last six months, ranked by real comments and narrowed to your song's genre and mood. We blind-tested six AI models on real songs, with judges from two different AI companies, and kept the one that ranked best.
Spotify Canvas from your cover art
Clips has a Canvas mode on both plans. It makes 3 to 8 second loops from your cover art, with colours from the artwork, movement and text such as tour dates. So the cover you made in Canva becomes your Canvas too.
Should a video tool post for you?
Canva Pro includes social content scheduling [1], and Canva says you can share a finished video to your social accounts straight from the editor [2].
We chose not to. We tested direct posting through TikTok's API on our own account, and the account was shadowbanned. That was our own test, not a verdict on any other tool, but your account is the one part of a release you can't replace. So the MusicMinutes posting calendar reminds you when it's time, with the video ready to save and a caption and 3 hashtags ready to copy. It never posts for you, so you can post to as many accounts as you like.
You get far more than a video editor
Both plans include:
- Playlist Search: around 24,000 bot-checked Spotify playlists with verified curator contacts, so you can pitch the right curators yourself and keep the contacts.
- Submit: 3 submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists, each checked by a human.
- Clarity: upload a TikTok or Reel and get honest feedback with clear fixes in about 30 seconds, so you know why a video stalled.
- Inspo: a feed of real musician videos with their feedback, to see what works.
- 1-2-1 advice: message Paul, our founder and an independent artist with over 1M Spotify streams, for help with Meta ads, playlist pitching and your release.
Canva's plans don't list playlist tools or video feedback. You can see every limit side by side on our pricing page.
Real footage, so the videos still feel like you
A lot of people search for a Canva alternative with no AI, and you can see why. Canva's plans now lean on it: AI tools, Canva AI 2.0, AI usage allowances, an AI Pass add-on and AI ad creation [1]. Its site menu even lists an AI music generator [2]. To be fair, you can still design in Canva without touching any of that, and AI generation is a real creative choice for some artists.
It's just not ours. We never generate footage with AI. Clips edits your own videos, free stock footage, or no footage at all with visualiser-only videos. A Copenhagen Business School study published in August 2026 found that people engaged less with posts labelled as AI-generated or AI-enhanced, even when the content was identical, and the effect was strongest for emotional content [3].
Where Canva might suit you
- Your release artwork. Cover art, posters and every other graphic around the release. Keep using Canva for these.
- One hero video you want to design frame by frame. A timeline editor gives you that control.
- A free plan for everything else you make. Canva Free costs £0 [1].
The verdict: keep Canva for the cover, use Clips for the videos
Canva is a superb all-round design tool. Don't cancel it. But for release videos it's a timeline editor, with auto Beat Sync on Pro, inside a plan that's increasingly built around AI.
If the job is a month of short videos from one song, Clips does it directly: up to 30 real-footage drafts per run, snapped to whole bars so they loop, with timed lyrics, hooks and a Spotify Canvas. Then you get playlist contacts, submissions and video feedback on top. If that sounds like your release plan, have a look at Clips on MusicMinutes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a Canva alternative without AI?
If you mean no AI footage, yes. We never generate footage with AI. Clips edits your own footage, stock or visualisers, and Magic Hooks uses AI only to suggest hook lines. You can also still design in Canva without its AI features.
How much is Canva Pro in the UK?
When we checked in October 2026, Canva's UK pricing page showed Canva Pro at £100 a year for one person and Canva Business at £180 a year per person [1]. MusicMinutes Artist is £72 a year and Artist Pro £180.
Can Canva sync video to the beat?
Yes. Beat Sync auto-syncs your clips to the beat on Canva Pro, and free users can show beat markers and sync by hand [2]. Clips also snaps each video to whole bars so it loops.
Should I use Canva or MusicMinutes for TikTok music videos?
For one carefully designed video, Canva's timeline fits. For a batch of short videos from one song, Clips builds up to 30 drafts per run.
Can I use both?
Yes, and plenty of artists will. Design your cover in Canva, then make your Canvas and release videos in Clips.
