Editing release videos in CapCut one at a time eats your evenings: lining every clip up to the beat, typing out the lyrics, then starting again for the next video. That's usually when artists start looking for a CapCut alternative. CapCut is a big, capable editor with a free plan, templates, auto captions and an Auto Cut that syncs footage to a beat [1][2][3]. Plenty of artists already use it. MusicMinutes Clips does a narrower job: one song in, a batch of beat-synced drafts with lyrics out.
We checked CapCut's pricing page in October 2026 [1]. It showed UK prices in pounds, so both sides here are in £, though CapCut says they're for reference only [1]. Check both sites before you pay. And yes, this is our blog, so we've stuck to facts you can check and flagged where the two aren't like for like.
Short version: CapCut is a great all-round editor. For a month of release videos from one song, Clips on Artist Pro (£20 a month, or £15 a month yearly) builds the batch for you.
The fair comparison: £20 vs £21.99
CapCut Pro showed £21.99 a month [1]. The closest MusicMinutes plan in price is Artist Pro: £20 a month, or £180 a year, which works out at £15 a month. That's the main pairing. We also set Artist (£10 a month) against CapCut Free, the choice many artists on a tight budget are really making.
Left out on purpose, because Clips doesn't do them:
- AI video generation and AI credits. CapCut Pro includes 1,200 monthly AI credits and AI video generation with Seedance models [1]. We don't generate footage (more below).
- Text to speech and custom voices. CapCut lists both [3]. Release videos use the song.
- Team seats and brand kits. CapCut Teams is £13.49 a month per seat, with a brand kit [1]. This comparison is for one artist.
- 1 TB of storage. CapCut Pro includes 1 TB [1]. Artist Pro gives you 10 GB, and finished videos don't count towards it. For a big archive of every project, CapCut wins easily.
One thing isn't like for like at all. CapCut Pro counts AI credits [1]. MusicMinutes counts the videos you keep and download: 100 a month on Artist Pro, 10 on Artist, picked from up to 30 drafts per run.

Paying monthly, Artist Pro is £20 against £21.99 for CapCut Pro, £1.99 less a month, or £240 against £263.88 over twelve months. On our yearly plan Artist Pro is £180, which is £15 a month. CapCut's page advertises "Yearly up to 30% off" [1], but we couldn't see a yearly figure without signing in, so we haven't guessed one.
At the bottom end, be fair to CapCut: Free costs nothing [1]. If an editor is all you need, that's hard to beat. Artist at £10 a month is for when you want the music side done for you, plus the playlist tools and feedback below.
Why MusicMinutes is better for music videos
Built for a batch, not one project
A release needs a lot of videos. CapCut's Auto Cut guide starts from a project with video clips on the timeline [2], and you edit from there. Clips starts from the song. Upload it once, pick a moment, and one run builds up to 30 different drafts. Keep, shuffle or edit them. That's the part that gives you your evenings back.
Synced to whole bars, so every video loops
CapCut can sync footage to a beat. Its Auto Cut has a Beat Sync mode on desktop, and you can set it to cut on every beat or only the strong ones [2].
Clips goes a step further for short-form. It snaps the moment you pick to whole bars of the song, so each video starts and ends just before a beat lands, and the end flows straight back into the start. A clean loop is easy to watch twice.
Your whole song, with the lyrics already on
CapCut's auto captions transcribe spoken words in 20+ languages, with styles you can change [3]. Clips is made for songs. The whole track is analysed and transcribed once, and the timed lyrics go on screen in your choice of 11 lyric styles. Want a batch from another part of the song next week, or three moments from the same song this month? Same upload.
Hooks written from what's getting comments
The text hook is the first-second line that decides whether someone keeps watching. Magic Hooks looks at hooks from real musician videos posted in the last six months, ranks them by real comments, and narrows them to your song's genre and mood. It writes 30 at a time, about your lyrics, your footage or your own idea, so every video can try a different one. We blind-tested six AI models on real songs, with judges from two different AI companies, and kept the one that ranked best.
Looks applied to the whole batch
Artist Pro includes 11 lyric styles, 20 music visualisers, 12 filters, 10 transitions and 12 effects, plus camera motion like zoom pulses, glitch and slow pans. Pick them once and they're applied across the whole batch, with no timeline editing.
On Artist Pro you can also put your lyrics behind the person in your video, so the words pass behind you, with smooth or sketch edges and an optional outline, on up to 30 minutes of footage a month. CapCut lists a video background remover among its tools [3]. In Clips, lyrics behind you is a switch that works across the batch.
Every format a release needs
Clips exports 9:16, 4:5 and 16:9 in HD. Spotify Canvas is built in: 3 to 8 second loops from your cover art, with text such as tour dates. Up to 4 of Artist Pro's 100 videos a month can be full-length, over a minute (1 of your 10 on Artist).
How posting works
Clips never posts for you, on purpose. We tested direct posting through TikTok's API on our own account, and the account was shadowbanned. That's why the posting calendar reminds you when it's time instead, with the video ready to save and a caption and 3 hashtags ready to copy. It never posts for you, so post to as many accounts as you like.
You get far more than a video editor
Every paid MusicMinutes plan includes:
- Playlist Search: around 24,000 bot-checked Spotify playlists with verified curator contacts, and you keep the contacts.
- Submit: 3 submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists, each checked by a human.
- Clarity: upload a TikTok or Reel and get honest feedback with clear fixes in about 30 seconds.
- Inspo: a feed of real musician videos with their feedback, to learn what actually works.
- 1-2-1 advice: message Paul, our founder and an independent artist with over 1M Spotify streams, for help with Meta ads, playlist pitching and your release.
CapCut's plans don't list playlist tools or video feedback [1]. You can see every limit side by side on our pricing page.
Real footage, so the videos still feel like you
CapCut Pro sells AI video generation, paid for with monthly AI credits [1]. That's a real creative choice, and you can use CapCut without it. We never generate footage with AI. Clips edits your own videos or real stock footage, or makes visualiser-only videos.
That matters for music. A Copenhagen Business School study published in August 2026 found people engaged less with posts labelled as AI-generated or AI-enhanced than with posts made by humans, even when the content was identical, and the effect was strongest for emotionally driven content [4].
Where CapCut might suit you
- You want full control over one hero video. A timeline lets you place every frame by hand.
- You want a free editor for everything you post, not just music videos.
- You want AI generation and voice tools. CapCut offers AI video generation, text to speech and custom voices [1][3].
The verdict: the CapCut alternative built for releases
Keep CapCut for one-off edits. For a release month, Artist Pro costs £1.99 a month less than CapCut Pro on monthly billing, or £15 a month yearly, and it does the music work for you. One upload gives you up to 30 drafts that loop, with the lyrics already on and hooks to try. Playlist contacts and video feedback come in the same plan.
If that sounds like your release plan, have a look at Clips on MusicMinutes.

How much is CapCut Pro in the UK?
CapCut's pricing page showed £21.99 a month for Pro when we checked on 11 October 2026, and £58 a month for Ultra [1]. It says that's for reference only, and we couldn't see a yearly price without signing in.

Yes. Auto Cut has a Beat Sync mode on desktop, with settings for how often it cuts. Its help page says it isn't yet on CapCut Web [2].
Can CapCut make lyric videos?
CapCut has auto captions, which its page describes as transcribing spoken words into text in 20+ languages, with styles you can customise [3]. Clips is built for lyrics: it transcribes your whole song once and puts timed lyrics on every draft in 11 styles.
