If you're paying for a video editor and still building every music video by hand, you're probably looking for a Kapwing alternative that's made for songs. Kapwing is a capable browser editor with subtitles, dubbing and AI tools, built with marketing and training teams in mind [1]. MusicMinutes Clips is built for one job: turning your song into short videos that sit on the beat.
We checked Kapwing's pricing page in October 2026 [1]. Prices change, so check both sites before you pay. Kapwing lists its prices in US dollars and says fees, taxes and exchange rates are already included, so you won't be charged more than the listed price [1]. And yes, this is our blog, so we've stuck to facts you can check and said where the two aren't directly comparable.
Short version: Kapwing is a strong all-round editor for talking and marketing videos. For videos of your songs, Clips builds them in batches, cut to the beat, with your lyrics on screen.
The fair comparison: Artist Pro vs Kapwing Pro
Kapwing prices per member, and a solo artist needs one seat, so every Kapwing price here is for one person. Both sell yearly, so we compare yearly with yearly and show monthly too.
The plan a solo artist would weigh against MusicMinutes Artist Pro is Kapwing Pro, its most popular plan. Kapwing Pro is $16 a month billed annually, which is $16 × 12 = $192 a year, or $24 billed monthly [1]. Artist Pro is £180 a year, which is £180 ÷ 12 = £15 a month, or £20 monthly. Different currencies, so we set them side by side and let what's included do the talking.
Some things are left out on purpose, because MusicMinutes doesn't offer them and most independent artists making song videos don't need them: dubbing, text to speech and voice clones, lip sync, screen recording, brand kits and custom fonts, team workspaces, SSO, and AI script, video or B-roll generation [1].
One row isn't like for like. Kapwing Pro has no monthly export limit ("Unlimited") and exports projects up to 2 hours long, in 4K [1]. It also gives you 1,000 credits a month for auto-subtitling (up to 1,000 minutes) and dubbing (up to 50 minutes) [1]. MusicMinutes counts the videos you keep and download: 100 a month on Artist Pro. Honestly, with Kapwing the limit is your time, because you put each video together yourself. With Clips, one run builds up to 30 drafts for you.

Why MusicMinutes is better for music videos
A month of drafts from one run
In a general editor, each video is its own project: trim, line it up with the song, add the words, export, repeat. Fine for one video. A lot of evenings for a release month.
Clips works the other way round. Upload the song once, pick a moment, footage and look, and one run builds up to 30 drafts to keep, shuffle or edit. Kapwing's Clip Maker and Repurpose Studio turn one long video into short clips [1], which suits talking and marketing videos. It's a different job from making videos for a song.
Synced to the beat, so every video loops
Clips finds the bars in your song and snaps your moment to whole bars, so each video starts and ends just before a beat. The end flows straight back into the start. A clean loop is easy to watch twice. Cuts land on the beat too, at the speed you pick.
Your whole song, with lyrics timed to it
The full song is analysed and transcribed when you upload it, so a batch from a different moment next week needs no new upload. On Artist Pro the lyrics come in 11 styles. Kapwing's Subtitler adds captions and subtitles [1], which is the right tool for speech. Lyric styles timed from a whole-song transcription aren't listed in its plans.
Hooks written from what's getting comments
The text hook is the line on screen in the first second. Magic Hooks writes 30 per run. It starts from hooks on real musician videos from the last six months, ranked by real comments and narrowed to your song's genre and mood. They can be about your lyrics, your footage or your own idea. We blind-tested six AI models on real songs, with judges from two different AI companies, and kept the one that ranked best.
Looks and effects across the whole batch
Kapwing lists transitions and video effects [1]. In Clips you pick them once and they're applied to every draft, with no timeline editing. That includes camera motion: zoom pulses, shakes, sway, tilt, blur, heat haze, RGB split, glitch and fractal warps, plus slow zooms, pans and drifts.
On Artist Pro you can also put your lyrics behind the person in your video, so the words pass behind you. It's a current typography trend and it isn't listed in Kapwing's plans. Done by hand, you'd cut yourself out frame by frame. Clips gives you smooth or sketch edges and an optional outline.
Spotify Canvas is built in
Clips makes 3 to 8 second Canvas loops from your cover art, with colours from the artwork, movement and text such as tour dates. We couldn't find a Canvas option in Kapwing's plans.
Posting your videos
We tested direct posting through TikTok's API on our own account, and the account was shadowbanned. That's why the Clips posting calendar reminds you when to post instead of posting for you. The video is ready to save, with a caption and 3 hashtags to copy, and you can post to as many accounts as you like.
You get far more than a video editor
Every paid MusicMinutes plan includes:
- Playlist Search: around 24,000 bot-checked Spotify playlists with verified curator contacts, so you can pitch the right curators yourself and keep the contacts.
- Submit: 3 submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists, each checked by a human.
- Clarity: upload a TikTok or Reel and get honest feedback with clear fixes in about 30 seconds, so you know why a video stalled before you post the next ten.
- Inspo: a feed of real musician videos with their feedback, to learn what actually works.
- 1-2-1 advice: message Paul, our founder and an independent artist with over 1M Spotify streams, for help with Meta ads, playlist pitching and your release.
You can see every limit side by side on our pricing page.
Real footage, so the videos still feel like you
Kapwing lists a B-roll generator and an AI video generator [1]. That's a real creative choice. We never generate footage with AI. A Copenhagen Business School study published in August 2026 found that people engaged less with posts labelled as AI-generated or AI-enhanced, even when the content was identical. The effect was strongest for emotional content [2]. Clips sticks to your own clips, real stock footage, or a visualiser.
Where Kapwing might suit you
- You also make talking, tutorial or podcast videos and want one editor for all of it.
- You need subtitles or dubbing in many languages. Kapwing dubs into 40+ languages [1].
- You want 4K exports or long videos. Kapwing Pro exports in 4K and up to 2 hours [1].
The verdict: the Kapwing alternative built for your songs
Kapwing is a good editor that covers a lot of ground. For a solo artist with a song to promote and a month of posts to fill, the time goes into building each video yourself. Artist Pro takes the song once and builds up to 30 beat-synced drafts that loop, with lyric styles, Magic Hooks and Spotify Canvas, at £180 a year. Then it adds playlist contacts, playlist submissions, video feedback and advice from Paul.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is Kapwing Pro?
When we checked in October 2026, Kapwing Pro was $16 per member a month billed annually ($192 a year), or $24 billed monthly [1]. MusicMinutes Artist Pro is £180 a year (£15 a month) or £20 monthly.
Does Kapwing have a free plan?
Yes. Kapwing Free gives you 10 credits, unlimited exports with a watermark, videos up to 4 minutes at 720p, 30 minutes of exports a month and 5 GB of storage [1].
Can Kapwing make a lyric video?
Kapwing's Subtitler adds captions and subtitles to videos in the browser [1], and you build the rest of the video in its editor. Lyric styles timed from a whole-song transcription aren't listed in its plans. Clips transcribes your whole song and times your lyrics on screen, in 11 styles on Artist Pro.
Which is better for TikTok music content?
For videos built around your song, Clips. It cuts batches to the beat and puts your lyrics on screen, and the hooks and Canvas are in the same place. If your TikToks are mostly you talking to camera, Kapwing's subtitles and editor fit that well.
Is Kapwing good for musicians?
Yes, if your videos are mostly talking, tutorials or anything that needs Kapwing subtitles or dubbing [1]. For videos of a song you still build each one in the editor, while one Clips run builds up to 30 beat-synced drafts.
