If you're looking for an OpusClip alternative, you've probably put a music video into it and got one or two clips back. OpusClip is good at what it's built for. A three-minute song is a different job, and that's the job MusicMinutes was made for.
So this comparison looks at what you get for your money and what each tool makes from one song. We checked OpusClip's pricing page and help centre on 10 October 2026 [1]. Prices change, so check before you pay. OpusClip shows UK visitors its prices in US dollars and charges in dollars, so your bank converts the amount (often with a small fee), and VAT may be added at checkout. And yes, this is our blog, so we've stuck to facts you can check and said where the two aren't directly comparable.
The short version: OpusClip turns long videos such as podcasts, interviews and vlogs into shorts [2]. Clips on MusicMinutes starts from your song and builds a batch of videos cut on the beat.
The fair comparison: £15 vs $14.50
Both tools sell yearly plans, so we compare yearly with yearly. OpusClip Pro is $174 billed annually, which works out at $14.50 a month, or $29 if you pay monthly [1]. The closest MusicMinutes plan is Artist Pro: £180 a year, which is £15 a month, or £20 monthly. That's roughly the same money. OpusClip's other paid plan, Starter, is $15 a month and only sold monthly [1].
OpusClip Pro includes some things MusicMinutes doesn't offer. We've left them out on purpose, because they're built for spoken video or for teams:
- Team and editor tools. A 2-seat team workspace, limited API access, an MCP connector, clip analytics and export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve [1].
- Speech tools. Video dubbing, speech enhancement and filler and silence removal [1]. Great for a podcast, not needed for a song.
Not like for like: what gets counted
OpusClip charges credits for the minutes of video you put in: 1 credit per minute of the original video, so a 30-minute video uses 30 credits [3]. MusicMinutes counts what comes out: 100 finished videos a month on Artist Pro, from up to 15 songs.
To be fair to OpusClip, a 3-minute song only uses about 3 credits, so for songs the credits are rarely the limit. The limit is how many clips a short video gives you: OpusClip's own help centre says a video of 0 to 3 minutes gives 1 to 2 clips [4]. Pro yearly includes 3,600 credits for $174 [1][5]. Monthly credits last 60 days; yearly credits arrive up front and last 12 months [3].

OpusClip's yearly plan halves the price of its credits [3], and MusicMinutes takes 40% off Artist and 25% off Artist Pro when you pay yearly. On the two plans compared here you pay about the same each month. OpusClip gives you minutes of video to mine for moments. Artist Pro gives you 100 finished, beat-synced videos a month from your songs, with playlist tools, feedback and advice on top.
Why MusicMinutes is technically better for music videos
Built around your song, not a long video
OpusClip starts from a video and finds the best moments in it [2]. That's ideal for a two-hour podcast. A song is three minutes, and you already know which parts matter. Clips starts from the song itself. Upload it once and the whole song is analysed and transcribed, so you can switch moments, or take several from one song, without uploading again. Add your own videos, free stock from Pexels or our collections, or no footage at all for visualiser-only videos.
A whole batch from one song
Clips builds up to 30 drafts in one go. Keep, shuffle or edit them. From a song-length video, OpusClip's help centre says to expect 1 to 2 clips [4]. Over a release, that gap adds up fast.
Synced to the beat, so every video loops
Clips snaps every moment to whole bars of your song, so each video starts and ends just before a beat and loops cleanly back to the start. Cuts land on the beat too, at the speed you pick: Auto, Slow, Medium or Fast.
Hooks written from what's working right now
The text hook is the line on screen in the first second that decides whether someone keeps watching. OpusClip Pro lists an Auto hook feature [1]. Magic Hooks is built for musicians: it writes 30 hooks per run from hooks in real musician videos of the last six months, ranked by real comments and narrowed to your song's genre and mood. They can be about your lyrics, your footage or your own idea. We blind-tested six AI models on real songs, with judges from two different AI companies, and kept the one that ranked best.
Lyric styles, and lyrics behind you on Artist Pro
Artist Pro includes 11 lyric styles, 20 music visualisers, 12 filters, 10 transitions, 12 effects and CapCut-style camera motion such as zoom pulses, shakes, glitch and slow pans. Pick them once and they're applied across the whole batch, with no timeline editing.
You can also put your lyrics behind the person in your video. It's a big typography trend, and hard in most tools (you'd cut yourself out frame by frame). Clips does it for you, with smooth or sketch edges and an optional outline, on up to 30 minutes of footage a month.
Spotify Canvas and full-length videos built in
Clips has a Spotify Canvas mode that makes 3 to 8 second loops from your cover art, with movement and text such as tour dates. It also makes full-length videos (4 a month on Artist Pro) as well as shorts, in 9:16, 4:5 or 16:9.
Should a video tool post for you?
OpusClip can post to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram from Starter, and Pro adds scheduling to more platforms, such as LinkedIn and Threads [1][5]. If you run lots of channels, that's useful.
For one artist, though, posting yourself takes seconds: open the app, pick the video, paste the caption. We tested direct posting through TikTok's API on our own account, and the account was shadowbanned. Your account is the one part of a release you can't replace.
So MusicMinutes never posts for you. The posting calendar reminds you when it's time, with a caption and 3 hashtags ready. Post to as many accounts as you like.
You get far more than a video editor
Every paid MusicMinutes plan includes:
- Playlist Search: around 24,000 bot-checked Spotify playlists with verified curator contacts that you keep.
- Submit: 3 submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists, each checked by a human.
- Clarity: upload a TikTok or Reel and get honest feedback with clear fixes in about 30 seconds.
- Inspo: a feed of real musician videos with their feedback.
- 1-2-1 advice: message Paul, our founder and an independent artist with over 1M Spotify streams, for help with Meta ads, playlist pitching and your release.
OpusClip's plans don't list playlist tools or feedback on your videos. You can see every MusicMinutes limit side by side on our pricing page.
Real footage, so the videos still feel like you
OpusClip Pro includes AI image B-roll [1]. We went the other way. A Copenhagen Business School study published in August 2026 found that people engaged less with posts labelled as AI-generated, even when the content was identical, and the drop was biggest for emotional content [7]. Music is about as emotional as content gets. We never generate footage with AI.
Where OpusClip might suit you
- You have long videos to cut down. Podcasts, vlogs or interviews are exactly what it's built for.
- You want a tool to post for you. Pro schedules posts across many platforms [5].
- You need team seats. Pro includes a team workspace with 2 seats [1].
The verdict: the better OpusClip alternative for musicians
OpusClip is good at mining long videos. If what you've got is a song, Artist Pro costs about the same each month on the yearly plan and is built for that job: up to 30 beat-synced drafts from one song, with lyric styles, Magic Hooks and Spotify Canvas. Then it adds playlist tools, video feedback and 1-2-1 advice.
If that sounds like your release plan, have a look at Clips on MusicMinutes.
