If you're looking for a Specterr alternative, it's probably because one visualiser per release doesn't go far when TikTok and Reels want a new video from you every day. Specterr is a web-based music visualiser and lyric video maker: pick a preset, upload your song, customise it, export [2][3]. MusicMinutes Clips makes batches of short videos for your song, from your own footage or from visualisers.

We checked Specterr's pricing page in October 2026 [1]. It showed prices in pounds, so both sides here are in £. Prices change, so check both sites before you pay. And yes, this is our blog, so we've stuck to facts you can check and said where the two aren't directly comparable.

Short version: Specterr is great for one polished, full-length visualiser or lyric video. For a release campaign of many short videos, MusicMinutes Artist Pro gives you far more for £180 a year.

The fair comparison: yearly plans, side by side

Specterr sells monthly and yearly plans [1]. We could only confirm its yearly prices, so we've compared yearly with yearly. Specterr Pro is £13 a month billed yearly (£156 a year) for 60 videos a year [1].

On MusicMinutes, the plan nearest in output is Artist: £72 a year (£6 a month) for 10 videos a month, so 120 a year. The plan nearest in price is Artist Pro: £180 a year (£15 a month) for 100 videos a month, so 1,200 a year. Most of this post pairs Specterr Pro with Artist Pro, the plan a solo artist planning a release would weigh against it.

Left out on purpose:

  • Free song mastering. Specterr includes it on its paid plans [1]. MusicMinutes doesn't master songs, so there's nothing to compare it with.
  • 4K and 120-minute exports. These come with Specterr Unlimited at £444 a year [1]. Clips is built for short-form video, so it isn't a like for like row.
  • Unlimited file storage. Specterr lists it under its other features [1]. MusicMinutes gives you a set amount (10 GB on Artist Pro).

One thing isn't like for like at all: video length. Specterr Pro makes videos up to 10 minutes long, and Unlimited up to 120 minutes [1]. Clips is made for TikTok and Reels: up to 4 of Artist Pro's 100 videos a month can be full-length (over a minute), counted within the 100. If you want an hour-long DJ mix visualiser, Specterr suits that better.

Specterr Unlimited £444 a year (£37 a month billed yearly) Unlimited, up to 120 minutes, 4K at 60fps No watermarks, video backgrounds, free song mastering [1]

The arithmetic, all in pounds: Specterr Pro works out at £2.60 a video (£156 ÷ 60). Artist is £0.60 a video (£72 ÷ 120) and Artist Pro £0.15 (£180 ÷ 1,200), if you use them all.

To be fair to Specterr, its videos can run for 10 minutes and ours are mostly under a minute, so price per video isn't the whole story. Specterr Unlimited is built for long 4K videos, and its page aims it at record labels, DJ mixes and album releases [1].

Why MusicMinutes is better for short release videos

Enough videos for a whole campaign

Specterr Pro's 60 videos are spread across a year [1]. A release push on TikTok and Reels can use that many in a few weeks. Artist Pro gives you 100 a month, so you can test a different moment, look or hook on every post without rationing.

Lyrics timed for you, from the whole song

In Specterr's lyric video maker you type in or paste your lyrics and set the timestamps yourself in the lyric editor [2]. For one full-length lyric video, that control makes sense.

Clips works the other way round. Upload a song once and the whole track is analysed and transcribed. The lyrics are timed for you, in any of 11 lyric styles. Want a different part of the song next week? Pick a new moment. No new upload, no re-typing.

Up to 30 drafts from one song in one run

Specterr's steps make one video per project: choose a preset, upload your audio, customise, export [2][3]. Clips builds up to 30 drafts at once on both plans. You keep the ones you like, shuffle the rest or edit them. The videos you keep and download are the ones that count towards your plan.

Cut to the beat, so every video loops

Clips snaps each moment to whole bars of your song, so the video starts and ends just before a beat and flows straight back into the start. A clean loop is easy to watch twice. Cuts land on the beat too, at the speed you pick (Auto, Slow, Medium or Fast).

Your footage, or a visualiser, or both

Visualisers are Specterr's strength, with 18 named presets [3] and deep options for effects and particles [2]. We won't claim Clips gives you more control over one visualiser.

What Clips adds is choice across a batch: 20 music visualisers, visualiser-only videos with no footage, or your own videos, free stock and our curated collections. We never generate footage with AI. On Artist Pro you also get 12 filters, 10 transitions and 12 effects, plus camera motion like zoom pulses, shakes, glitch, slow zooms and pans. Pick them once and they apply across the whole batch, with no timeline editing.

Lyrics behind you

On Artist Pro the words can pass behind the person in your video. It's a current typography trend. It's hard to do in most tools, where you'd cut yourself out frame by frame. Clips does it for you, with smooth or sketch edges and an optional outline, on up to 30 minutes of footage a month.

Hooks and Spotify Canvas built in

The text hook is the line on screen in the first second that decides whether someone keeps watching. Magic Hooks writes 30 per run. It starts from hooks in real musician videos from the last six months, ranked by real comments and filtered to your song's genre and mood. We blind-tested six AI models on real songs, with judges from two different AI companies, and kept the one that ranked best.

Clips also makes Spotify Canvas loops (3 to 8 seconds) from your cover art, with colours from the artwork, movement and text such as tour dates. Videos export in 9:16, 4:5 and 16:9.

Posting: reminders, not autoposting

We tested direct posting through TikTok's API on our own account, and the account was shadowbanned. That's why the Clips posting calendar reminds you when to post rather than posting for you. The video is ready to save, with a caption and 3 hashtags to copy. Nothing is connected, so you can post to as many accounts as you like.

You get far more than a video editor

Every paid MusicMinutes plan includes:

  • Playlist Search: around 24,000 bot-checked Spotify playlists with verified curator contacts, so you can pitch the right curators yourself and keep the contacts.
  • Submit: 3 submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists, each checked by a human.
  • Clarity: upload a TikTok or Reel and get honest feedback with clear fixes in about 30 seconds, so you know why a video stalled before you post the next one.
  • Inspo: a feed of real musician videos with their feedback, to see what actually works.
  • 1-2-1 advice: message Paul, our founder and an independent artist with over 1M Spotify streams, for help with Meta ads, playlist pitching and your release.

Specterr's plans don't list playlist tools or video feedback [1]. You can see every limit side by side on our pricing page.

Where Specterr might suit you

  • A long visualiser or DJ mix video. Its lyric video page mentions videos up to an hour long for DJ mixes [2].
  • A full-length lyric video you want to time by hand. The timeline lyric editor gives you that control [2].
  • 4K visualisers. Specterr Unlimited exports in 4K at 60fps [1].

The verdict: the Specterr alternative for release campaigns

If you want one beautiful, long visualiser for an album or a DJ set, Specterr does that well. If you want a steady run of short videos for every release, MusicMinutes Artist Pro fits better. It's £180 a year for 100 videos a month, against £156 a year for Specterr Pro's 60. Each video is snapped to the beat so it loops, with lyrics timed for you, from 20 visualisers or your own footage, plus hooks, Spotify Canvas and the playlist tools on top.
