Hunting for hip hop playlists to pitch usually means hours of digging for curator emails, then still not knowing which lists are real and which are full of bots. Below are 10 hip hop and rap Spotify playlists accepting submissions, with follower counts, so you can start your hip hop Spotify playlist submission with lists that have already passed a bot check. Listen to each one, pitch the few that match your sound, and walk away from anyone who asks for money.
Updated October 2026. In August 2026, Spotify said it would label "AI Persona" profiles and that, by default, it won't include AI Personas in its editorial or algorithmic recommendations [1]. That's a reminder that Spotify decides what it recommends, and those rules keep changing. Playlists run by real people, with real listeners, are a route to new fans you can work on yourself.
How the list was picked, in one line: hip hop and rap playlists from MusicMinutes Playlist Search that passed our bot and quality checks, with at least 1,000 followers and a published way to contact the curator. It's a sample, not our top-rated list: those stay in Playlist Search. This is MusicMinutes' own data, checked on 11 October 2026 [2].
The list: 10 hip hop Spotify playlists accepting submissions
Follower counts are as of 11 October 2026 and change daily, and the list is sorted by followers. The style column shows two or three of the playlist's genre tags. A few lean towards UK drill and grime going by their tags, so only pitch those if your music fits.

How we picked these
Everything here comes from MusicMinutes Playlist Search on 11 October 2026 [2]. We kept playlists whose top two genre tags include hip hop, rap or one of their styles (trap, melodic rap, underground hip hop, southern hip hop, west coast hip hop, alternative hip hop, boom bap, drill, uk drill, emo rap or rage rap).
On top of that, each playlist had to have:
- A pass on our quality checks, without being one of our very top-rated hip hop playlists (those stay in Playlist Search).
- At least 1,000 followers.
- A published way to contact the curator.
- No place on our excluded list (playlists we've found to be botted, payola or removed).
- A name that isn't explicit.
Then we took out anything that didn't clearly fit by name or tags, like lists that lead with R&B, pop or a local scene, and any whose name included a person's name, and picked 10. That's why some big playlists you might expect aren't here.
Our quality checks run daily on follower history, how active the playlist is and how many small artists it features. Botted and payola playlists are hidden automatically, so everything in the table passed those checks. Passing them doesn't mean a curator will reply or add your song, though. That's always their call.
How to make your hip hop Spotify playlist submission count
A few careful pitches usually do better than a big blast. Here's what I'd do with this list:
- Listen first. Play the top of each playlist and a few of the newer adds before you write anything. You'll cross some off in two minutes, and that's the point.
- Match the sound, not just the genre. "Hip hop" covers a lot. A track built for a list tagged emo rap and cloud rap won't sit well next to west coast hip hop and g-funk. Pitch the playlists where your song would feel at home.
- Send one personal message. Use the playlist's name, say in a sentence why your track fits it, and add the Spotify link. Short is fine. Copy and paste blasts are easy to spot.
- No attachments. Send a link, not an MP3 or WAV file. Curators add from Spotify anyway, and big files clog their inbox.
- Follow up once. If you hear nothing after a week or two, one polite nudge is fine. After that, let it go and move on to the next one.
- Never pay for a placement. More on that below.

What to avoid
Sooner or later you'll see a "pay us and we'll get you on playlists" offer. Spotify is blunt about them. It says it "strictly prohibits using any third party service that promises streams or playlist placement in exchange for money", and that any service that guarantees streams, followers or playlist placement for money is "not legitimate and should be avoided" [3].
The risk isn't only wasted money. Spotify lists possible consequences including "Removal of the song from Spotify playlists" and "Removal of the track from Spotify altogether", and artificial streams "do not earn royalties" [3]. Botted playlists are part of the same problem: the followers and plays aren't real people, so a placement that looks good can still put the song at risk of the penalties above [3].
So if a curator asks for a fee to add you, or a service promises a number of streams, say no and pitch the next playlist instead.
Where to find the curator contacts
This article only gives you names and links. The contacts are in MusicMinutes Playlist Search, which covers around 24,000 bot checked Spotify playlists. You can search by keyword, genre, mood or a similar artist, see each playlist's daily quality score and follower history, and reveal a verified curator contact (email, Instagram or a submission link) when you're ready to pitch.
Playlist Search is on the paid plans (Artist from £72 a year). There's no fee per pitch, you keep the contacts you've revealed even if you cancel, and the plans also include 3 human checked submissions a month to the MusicMinutes playlists through Submit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is hip hop playlist submission free?
Yes, free hip hop playlist submission is normal: pitching a curator directly by email or Instagram costs nothing. Some curators use a submission link, and what that link asks for is up to them. If anyone wants money in exchange for adding your song, Spotify says to avoid it [3].
How many hip hop playlists should I pitch per release?
It depends on how many really fit. Pitch the ones where your track genuinely fits after you've listened. For most songs that's a handful from a list like this, not all of them.
Are these the best hip hop playlists on Spotify?
No, and that's deliberate. They're a sample that passed our bot and quality checks, not our top-rated list. Playlist Search rates every playlist daily from follower history, activity and how many small artists it features [2], and that's where you'll find the highest-rated hip hop playlists and their contacts.
Why aren't the curator emails in this article?
Posting them in a public article would mostly get hip hop playlist curators spammed, and a curator buried in spam is less likely to read your pitch. In Playlist Search they're verified and kept with each playlist.
